Easter(Domingo de Pascua) en Reino Unido
Saludo local: Happy Easter
Easter in the United Kingdom is a four-day bank holiday weekend stretching from Good Friday through Easter Monday. Churches hold services ranging from traditional Anglican evensong to contemporary worship, and many cathedrals perform Handel's Messiah or Bach's St Matthew Passion during Holy Week.
The hot cross bun is perhaps Britain's most iconic Easter food, spiced with cinnamon and studded with currants, traditionally eaten on Good Friday. Simnel cake, a rich fruitcake topped with eleven marzipan balls representing the faithful apostles, graces many Easter tables. Chocolate Easter eggs are enormously popular, with British confectioners producing over 80 million eggs each year.
Morris dancers perform in village greens across England, their bells and ribbons heralding spring. Egg rolling is a cherished tradition, especially in northern England and Scotland, where decorated hard-boiled eggs are rolled down hillsides. The most famous event takes place at Avenham Park in Preston, Lancashire, drawing thousands of participants.
In recent decades Easter has also become associated with spring gardening, the opening of stately homes for the season, and National Trust egg trails that send children searching through historic gardens and parklands.
