दीवाली(Divali) en Royaume-Uni

Salutation locale: Shubh Deepavali

Diwali in the United Kingdom has grown into one of the country's most prominent multicultural celebrations, driven by the large British Indian community. Leicester hosts the largest Diwali celebrations outside of India, with the Belgrave Road Golden Mile light switch-on drawing over 40,000 people and the Diwali Day festivities attracting up to 50,000.

The Leicester celebration features a spectacular fireworks display, Bollywood dancing, live music, and a massive street fair along the Golden Mile. Other cities with major celebrations include London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds. In London, Diwali events have been held in Trafalgar Square, at the Houses of Parliament, and in Neasden's BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, the largest Hindu temple outside India.

British Hindu, Sikh, and Jain families celebrate at home with traditional rituals, decorating with diyas and rangoli, performing Lakshmi Puja, and sharing sweets and gifts. The food is a fusion of traditional and British influences: alongside classic mithai like barfi, gulab jamun, and jalebi, families serve samosas, pakoras, and elaborate multi-course dinners.

Diwali has entered mainstream British culture. The Royal Mint has issued Diwali commemorative coins, the Prime Minister hosts a Diwali reception at Downing Street, and major retailers and brands run Diwali campaigns. Schools teach about the festival, and many non-Hindu Britons participate in public celebrations.
