🌱 Nowruz Spring Cleaning (Khaneh Tekani)

Khaneh tekani ('shaking the house') is the Persian tradition of deep-cleaning the entire home in the weeks before Nowruz, replacing old items with new ones to welcome the new year with a fresh start. Carpets are beaten and aired, curtains washed, and new flowers and plants brought inside. The practice reflects the New Year's association with renewal and the arrival of spring, and shares conceptual roots with Japanese osoji (year-end cleaning) and other seasonal purification customs worldwide.
