<holidayfyi-glossary slug="global-earth-hour"></holidayfyi-glossary>An annual environmental event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in which participants worldwide switch off non-essential electric lights for one hour, typically on the last Saturday of March. Since its launch in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour has grown to involve over 190 countries and territories. Landmark structures including the Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Opera House, and the Empire State Building participate by going dark.
