🌹 Remembrance Day Poppy Wearing

In the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other Commonwealth nations, red paper poppies are worn on lapels from late October through 11 November (Remembrance Day) to honour soldiers killed in World War One and subsequent conflicts. The tradition was inspired by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae's poem 'In Flanders Fields' (1915), which described poppies growing over the graves of fallen soldiers. The Royal British Legion has distributed over 40 million poppies annually since the 1920s.
