المولد النبوي(マウリド) の エジプト
現地の挨拶: Kol sana wenta tayeb / Mawlid Nabawi Said
Mawlid al-Nabi in Egypt is one of the most colorfully celebrated religious occasions in the country, blending Islamic devotion with distinctly Egyptian festive traditions. The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad is marked with a unique carnival atmosphere that sets Egyptian Mawlid apart from observances in other Muslim countries.
The defining symbol of Egyptian Mawlid is the arouset el-moulid, a sugar doll bride, and the horseman, colorful candy figurines sold in elaborate displays at sweet shops across the country. These confections, made from boiled sugar and decorated with bright colors and paper frills, are given as gifts, particularly to children. The tradition dates back centuries and is uniquely Egyptian.
Sufi orders play a central role in Egyptian Mawlid celebrations. The area around the mosque of Imam Hussein in Cairo becomes the epicenter of celebrations, with Sufi dhikr circles, chanting, and ecstatic worship continuing for days. Tents and stages are erected, and performers recite poetry and songs in praise of the Prophet. The atmosphere is a remarkable blend of the sacred and the festive.
Halawet el-moulid, an assortment of traditional candies and sesame-based sweets, is distributed to friends and neighbors. Families gather for festive meals, and the streets are decorated with lights and banners. While some Muslim scholars debate the religious validity of Mawlid celebrations, in Egypt it remains a deeply beloved cultural and spiritual tradition.
