نوروز(ノウルーズ) の パキスタン

現地の挨拶: Nowruz Mubarak!

Nowruz in Pakistan is celebrated by diverse communities across the country's western and northern regions. The Baloch, Pashtun, Hazara, and Ismaili communities all observe variations of the festival, though it is not a national public holiday. The celebrations are strongest in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral.

In Balochistan, Nowruz is a major cultural event. Traditional games including horse racing, wrestling, and archery are organized. The Baloch prepare special dishes like sajji (whole roasted lamb), kaak (a traditional bread), and dried fruits. Communities gather around bonfires, and folk musicians perform on the suroz (a bowed string instrument) and dambura.

Among the Ismaili community in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, Nowruz is celebrated with polo matches (the traditional sport of the region), music festivals, and communal prayers at Jamatkhanas (Ismaili prayer houses). The Shandur Polo Festival, while held in summer, reflects the same sporting tradition that animates Nowruz celebrations.

Pashtun communities celebrate Nowruz with the traditional Pashtun dance attan, elaborate meals of pulao (spiced rice with meat), and visits to family and friends. Despite being less prominent than Eid celebrations nationally, Nowruz represents an important marker of cultural identity for Pakistan's western ethnic communities.
