The tradition of Christmas caroling — going door to door to sing — dates to the 19th century. Famous carols include Silent Night, O Holy Night, and Deck the Halls. Many cultures have equivalent traditions: villancicos in Spanish-speaking countries, koledy in Poland, and kalanda in Greece.
