نوروز(노루즈) ~에서 타지키스탄

현지 인사말: Nawruz Muborak! / Наврӯз муборак!

Nawruz in Tajikistan is the country's most important national holiday, celebrated over multiple days around March 21st. As a Persian-speaking nation, Tajikistan shares deep cultural roots with Iran and Afghanistan in its Nowruz traditions, and the holiday is a cornerstone of Tajik national identity.

The Haft-Sin table is prepared in Tajik homes, though local variations include Haft-Shin (seven items starting with 'shin' in Tajik). Sumalak (known as samanu in Iran), a sweet paste made from germinated wheat, is Tajikistan's most beloved Nawruz food. Preparing sumalak is a communal all-night event: women gather around large cauldrons, stirring for hours while singing folk songs and telling stories.

Dushanbe, the capital, hosts massive public celebrations in Dusti (Friendship) Square with concerts, traditional dance performances, and craft fairs. Buzkashi (horseback goat-pulling), a sport shared with Afghanistan, is played in arenas and open fields across the country. Gushtigiri (traditional wrestling) tournaments are also a highlight.

Tajik families prepare elaborate meals featuring osh (plov, the national rice dish with carrots, meat, and spices), qurutob (bread soaked in yogurt sauce), and sambusa (baked pastries filled with meat or pumpkin). New clothes are essential, debts are settled, and homes are cleaned from top to bottom. The holiday is a time for visiting extended family, often traveling to ancestral villages in the mountainous countryside.
