نوروز(Nowruz) em Cazaquistão

Saudação Local: Наурыз қутты болсын!

Nauryz Meyrami is Kazakhstan's most celebrated holiday, observed on March 21st-23rd as a three-day public holiday. The festival was suppressed during the Soviet era but was revived after independence in 1991 and has since become central to Kazakh national identity, symbolizing renewal, unity, and the country's nomadic heritage.

The signature dish is nauryz kozhe, a ritual soup made with seven ingredients representing the seven elements of life: water, meat, salt, fat, flour, grain (usually rice or wheat), and milk (kurt, dried yogurt). Every household prepares nauryz kozhe, and refusing a bowl when offered is considered deeply disrespectful. Beshbarmak (boiled meat with flat noodles) and baursak (fried bread) complete the feast.

Public celebrations across Kazakhstan's cities feature yurt villages erected in central squares, traditional horse games (kokpar, baige, kyz kuu), wrestling (kuresi), and performances of traditional music on the dombra (two-stringed lute). Almaty's central square and Astana's Bayterek area host the largest events.

Kazakh families clean their homes thoroughly before Nauryz, settle debts, and forgive grievances. New clothes are worn, and elders are visited first. The holiday carries a strong message of communal harmony, and the traditional greeting 'Nauryz kutty bolsyn' is exchanged warmly between friends, neighbours, and even strangers.
