🪔 Diwali Oil Lamps (Diyas)
Origem: South Asia
Diyas are small clay oil lamps hand-painted and filled with mustard or sesame oil, lit in their thousands to illuminate homes, temples, and streets during Diwali. The lamps symbolise the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance as celebrated in the stories of Rama's return and Lakshmi's blessing. Modern celebrations incorporate electric lights and coloured LED strings alongside traditional clay diyas.
