Mawlid al-Nabi in Pakistan, known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, is a national public holiday celebrated with great fervor, particularly by the Barelvi majority. The 12th of Rabi ul-Awal is marked by processions, illuminations, and gatherings that transform cities across the country.

Grand processions, called juloos, wind through city streets with participants carrying green flags and banners, na'at singers performing devotional poetry in praise of the Prophet on decorated floats, and marching bands playing spiritual music. The largest processions in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi can stretch for miles and draw hundreds of thousands of participants.

Buildings, mosques, and homes are decorated with green and white lights, the colors associated with the Prophet and the Pakistani flag. The illumination of landmarks, from the Badshahi Mosque to commercial areas, creates a spectacular nighttime display. Milad gatherings, where the faithful listen to na'at poetry and speeches about the Prophet's life, take place in homes, mosques, and community halls.

Special meals are prepared and distributed, with many families setting up sabeel, free drink stalls offering milk, juices, and sharbat to passersby. Sweet shops display special Milad sweets. The celebration, while contested by some Islamic scholars, enjoys widespread popular support and is deeply woven into Pakistani religious and cultural identity.
