Easter(复活节) 在 俄罗斯

当地问候语: Khristos Voskrese

Russian Orthodox Easter, or Paskha, is the most important religious holiday in Russia, celebrated with deep reverence and centuries-old traditions. The midnight service is the spiritual climax of the year. Congregants gather outside churches holding lit candles, and at midnight the priest leads a procession around the church three times before declaring Khristos Voskrese, Christ is Risen, to which the faithful respond Voistinu Voskrese, Truly He is Risen.

The Easter table is a lavish spread prepared after the Great Lent. Kulich, a tall cylindrical yeast bread topped with white icing and sprinkles, is the centerpiece, alongside paskha, a rich pyramid-shaped dessert made from tvorog, cream cheese, butter, and dried fruits pressed into a wooden mold stamped with the letters XB (Khristos Voskrese). Both are taken to church on Saturday night to be blessed by the priest.

Eggs are dyed red, symbolizing the blood of Christ, and exchanged with the triple kiss greeting. Many families use onion skins to create naturally dyed eggs in rich mahogany tones. The tradition of egg tapping, where two people knock their eggs together to see whose cracks first, is a beloved game.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, churches overflow with worshippers, and the sound of church bells ringing in the Resurrection echoes across the cities. The tradition of visiting cemeteries on Radonitsa, the Tuesday after Easter, to share food and drink with the departed is a uniquely Russian observance.
