عيد الأضحى(宰牲节) 在 孟加拉国

当地问候语: Eid Mubarak

Eid al-Adha in Bangladesh, known as Eid ul-Azha or Kurbani Eid, is celebrated with great devotion and communal spirit. The three-day holiday triggers a massive reverse migration from Dhaka, as millions of residents return to their ancestral villages to celebrate with extended family. The city's population drops dramatically, and normally gridlocked streets become eerily quiet.

Cattle markets, or haat, open weeks before Eid across the country, becoming lively social gathering points. Families spend considerable sums on sacrificial cows, goats, and occasionally camels. Decorated cattle are paraded through neighborhoods, and children take pride in showing off the family's chosen animal. The Gabtoli and Sadarghat cattle markets in Dhaka are among the largest.

After the Eid prayer, the sacrifice is performed at home or in community spaces. The meat distribution follows Islamic guidelines, with special attention given to ensuring the poor receive their share. In recent years, online platforms have enabled urban Bangladeshis to purchase and arrange sacrifice remotely in their home villages.

The feast features the sacrificial meat prepared as biryani, rezala, bhuna gosht, and various kebabs. Polao with meat is a traditional Eid specialty. Sweets like firni, payesh, and jilapi are served. The three-day celebration involves continuous visiting of relatives, neighbors, and friends, with each household offering hospitality to every guest.
