عيد الأضحى(宰牲节) 在 巴基斯坦

当地问候语: Eid Mubarak

Eid al-Adha in Pakistan, commonly called Bari Eid (Big Eid), is celebrated with three days of public holiday and is one of the most significant events in Pakistani life. The lead-up to Eid sees mandi, temporary livestock markets, spring up in every city and town, where families browse and bargain for sacrificial animals. The animals, particularly large bulls and camels, are decorated with henna, garlands, and colorful fabric, and social media fills with photos of prized purchases.

On Eid morning, men attend prayers at mosques and eidgahs before the family sacrifice. In many households, the animal is slaughtered at home in the courtyard or driveway, with family members and neighbors gathered to witness. The meat is divided strictly into three portions, and the distribution to the poor is considered a sacred obligation.

Pakistani Eid cuisine centers on the fresh sacrificial meat. Families prepare barbecue, karahi gosht, nihari, paya, and seekh kebabs over the three days. The first day typically features grilled and fried preparations, while slow-cooked stews and curries follow on subsequent days. The aroma of grilling meat permeates every neighborhood.

Children receive Eidi money and wear new clothes. The celebration brings families together across distances, with people traveling home from the cities. The generosity extends beyond meat distribution, with many Pakistanis donating animal hides to charitable organizations that sell them to fund social programs.
