عيد الفطر(开斋节) 在 马来西亚

当地问候语: Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin

Eid al-Fitr in Malaysia, known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is the most significant celebration for the country's Malay Muslim majority and is embraced warmly by Malaysia's multiethnic society. The month-long buildup features Hari Raya bazaars in every city, selling traditional clothing, decorations, and cookies. The balik kampung exodus, when city dwellers return to their hometowns, rivals Indonesian mudik in scale.

On Eid morning, families don new baju Melayu and baju kurung in coordinated colors, attend mosque prayers, and visit the graves of loved ones. The tradition of asking forgiveness, maaf zahir dan batin, is deeply felt, and families reconcile any differences. Children receive duit raya, money in green packets, from adults.

Open houses are the hallmark of Malaysian Eid. Families keep their doors open to all visitors, regardless of race or religion, serving rendang, lemang (glutinous rice cooked in bamboo), ketupat, satay, and an impressive array of kuih, traditional cakes and cookies. It is common for Chinese, Indian, and other non-Muslim friends and colleagues to visit Muslim homes, reinforcing Malaysia's multicultural bonds.

Even the Prime Minister and state leaders hold open houses attended by thousands. The celebration lasts officially for two days but in practice continues for the entire month of Syawal, with families staggering their open houses across weekends.
