New Year's Day(元旦) 在 阿根廷

当地问候语: Feliz Ano Nuevo!

Ano Nuevo in Argentina is a midsummer celebration, with January 1st falling during the hottest part of the year. After midnight asado (barbecue) gatherings and sidra (cider) toasts the night before, January 1st is a relaxed day spent with family, often at poolside or in the shade.

Argentine New Year's Eve traditions include wearing pink underwear for love and eating lentils at midnight for prosperity. One distinctive custom is throwing old papers, documents, and calendars out of office windows on the last working day of December, creating blizzards of white paper in the financial districts of Buenos Aires.

The asado on New Year's Day is a sacred institution. Families gather around the parrilla (grill) for hours, cooking beef ribs, chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), and provoleta (grilled provolone cheese). Malbec wine flows freely, and the meal is typically followed by a long siesta.

Many Argentines take advantage of the summer holiday to escape to beach resorts like Mar del Plata and Pinamar, or to the lake district around Bariloche. The first days of January mark the beginning of the veraneo (summer holiday season), and the mood is distinctly vacation-oriented rather than reflective.
