Eid al-Fitr in Singapore, known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is a gazetted public holiday celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Malay-Muslim community and embraced by the multiethnic city-state. The lead-up to Eid transforms Geylang Serai, the traditional Malay quarter, into a spectacular bazaar stretching for blocks, with stalls selling traditional clothing, kueh, decorations, and street food.

The light-up along Geylang Serai and Sims Avenue is one of Singapore's most dazzling annual displays, with elaborate illuminated arches and decorative motifs that draw visitors of all backgrounds.
