Eid al-Fitr in Singapore, known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is a gazetted public holiday celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Malay-Muslim community and embraced by the multiethnic city-state. Visiting the graves of ancestors at Pusara Aman cemetery is a common morning tradition. The practice of asking forgiveness from elders is deeply cherished. Many Singaporean companies give their Malay employees a Hari Raya bonus, and community organizations distribute food and gifts to the less fortunate.
