عيد الفطر(Eid al-Fitr) em Singapura

Saudação Local: Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Eid al-Fitr in Singapore, known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is a gazetted public holiday celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Malay-Muslim community and embraced by the multiethnic city-state. The lead-up to Eid transforms Geylang Serai, the traditional Malay quarter, into a spectacular bazaar stretching for blocks, with stalls selling traditional clothing, kueh, decorations, and street food.

The light-up along Geylang Serai and Sims Avenue is one of Singapore's most dazzling annual displays, with elaborate illuminated arches and decorative motifs that draw visitors of all backgrounds. The Malay Heritage Centre and community organizations host cultural events showcasing traditional music, dance, and crafts.

On Eid morning, families attend mosque prayers in coordinated outfits, often choosing a family color for the year. The feast features ketupat, rendang, lontong, sayur lodeh, and a profusion of kuih, including kuih lapis, ondeh ondeh, and kuih tart. The open house tradition is strong, with families welcoming visitors of all races, reflecting Singapore's multicultural values.

Visiting the graves of ancestors at Pusara Aman cemetery is a common morning tradition. The practice of asking forgiveness from elders is deeply cherished. Many Singaporean companies give their Malay employees a Hari Raya bonus, and community organizations distribute food and gifts to the less fortunate.
