The Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan, celebrated on the 15th of the eighth lunar month, has developed unique local traditions that distinguish it from mainland Chinese celebrations. Department stores and bakeries compete with creative mooncake offerings, from traditional to fusion flavors, making the weeks before the festival a season of elaborate gift-giving and culinary experimentation.
